How do we know that God really loves us? The Bible declares over and over that God loves us. The Bible tells us that God was manifested in the flesh as the Son, Jesus Christ, and that Jesus gave his life that we might live. This in itself is the ultimate act of love. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13)
No greater manifestation of love is possible than for one to willingly die that others might live. The Biblical record tells of God's love. Other historical records prove above any other historical event, that a man named Jesus lived, died, was buried, and rose again. However, we live in 2024 and I know many still struggle with the concept of a loving God. It seems to some to be merely words on a page without any confirmation.
Are all manifestations of God's love past? Some religions would say yes, but I say no! Did not God command us to love not in word only, but in deed and truth? God will keep his own commandments. I began to truly love God at the manifestation of his love for me in a church service one night years ago.
It wasn't just words on a page or some kind of empty confession but a powerful experience of the Spirit of God touching the very depths of my sinner's heart! Tears streamed down my face. Never in my life had I felt love like I did that night. God manifested his love to me himself. His love came first through his saints and then he confirmed it himself. God doesn't just leave it to the preacher, he will show you his love himself.
